About us

All India Occupational Therapists' Association (AIOTA) was founded by Kamala V. Nimbkar nee Elizabeth Lundy in the year 1952. She was its Founder President and held this office till 1959. AIOTA was also one of the Founder Council Members of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) which too came to existence in 1952. She got All India Occupational Therapists' Association registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, Bombay on 29th June 1955, vide Registration No. E-1118 (Bom.).

Tamilnadu state branch of All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (TNAIOTA) was officially registered under AIOTA in the year of 2009-2010 & also in the Society Act.

  • To provide and promote Occupational Therapy by enhancing client’s participation in everyday activities through evidence based practice, innovative research and effective rehabilitation.
  • To establish exclusively Tamil Nadu school of Occupational therapy in the future.
  • To form Occupational Therapy Council.
  • To establish Occupational therapy Helpline service centres in each district of Tamil Nadu in future.
  • To carry out various activities to uplift Occupational Therapy profession to the next level.

  • To create awareness about the significance of Occupational therapy in various rehab fields.
  • To conduct camps in various Schools, Colleges, Rural and Urban areas to create awareness about the importance of the Occupational therapy among the people.
  • To create posts in Occupational therapy at various Government sectors in Tamilnadu.
  • To develop Occupational therapy Assessment tools in Indian context.
  • To publish National and International Journals in Occupational therapy in near future.
  • To organize Local, Regional, National And International Seminars, Conference, CME, Exhibitions, Road Shows, Lecture Meetings, Workshops and etc.,
